Advanced Electric and Solar installed a rooftop solar system on our house in Fall 2024 and we are very pleased with the results. The entire cost was very moderately priced and the installation was surprisingly fast. Joe Alitiem was highly responsive throughout the process. He made multiple visits to see us and communicated regularly during and after the installation, including during the somewhat frustrating stage of Tucson Electric Power’s role post-installation.

After receiving multiple bids for this project, the obvious choice was Advanced Electric and Solar. We are certain that we made the right decision and would highly recommend Joe and his company.

In the fall of 2023, after a very hot summer with high utility bills, we decided to investigate solar. We interviewed 3 solar companies and chose to go with Joe Alitiem and his team from Advanced Electric & Solar. Joe was recommended to us by two other neighbors with similar homes. When we sat down with Joe face to face, he answered all of our questions and explained the process in detail. We discovered that most solar companies were installing the same or similar equipment. We were on a short fuse as our local utility was changing the rates for excess electricity produced. Our decision came down to who we felt could perform in the fastest time period with the most professionalism. We signed a contract with Joe on September 28, 2023. He was able to pull a permit with Oro Valley on the same date. Our 15.2KW system was completed in a professional manner, inspected to Oro Valley and Tucson Electric Power and was fully operational by October 19, 2023. We are extremely pleased with the team at Advanced Electrical and Solar and would recommend them to anyone looking to install solar.

Recommend Joe Unreservedly!

We unreservedly recommend Joe Alitiem and Advanced Electric and Solar. He was recommended to us by friends, who were impressed with his work for them and by his honest appraisal that their daughter’s home was not a candidate for solar. As an electrical engineer, Joe was able to problem solve Issues with installing solar panels on our 1970’s house that other companies could not—saving us from digging a trench across our front yard to connect the solar panels to the electrical panels on the house. His work is respected by TEP, which expedited the final hook up. We are totally satisfied with our panels and with Joe’s expertise.

Very Happy Customer!

I highly recommend Advanced Electric and Solar for solar installation! Joe is very knowledgeable, personable, and explained the entire process in detail before we signed the contract. He answered all our questions with patience and in terms we could understand. Even when there was a hiccup in the final sign off by TEP, he quickly resolved the issue with utmost professionalism. I also appreciate that he has followed up with us to make sure everything is working as it should and as we expected. We are definitely glad we went with Advanced Electric and Solar over other companies!

"Super Satisfied Customer"

We had our solar system installed in the Spring of 2023 by Advanced Electric and Solar and I would (and have already) recommend them, with much enthusiasm, to friends and family—and even to people who I meet on the street. They are an exceptionally good company and I was very pleased with every aspect of the service and product that they provided. The customer service shown by Joe set the standard for what one would hope for in an organization as he was knowledgeable, responded quickly to inquiries, was patient, and took the time to explain the many aspects of the process of installing solar. The quality of workmanship was top-notch. The highest levels of professionalism were shown and I soon felt confident about putting solar up on our roof. I am super happy about the investment in solar, and the results/savings have been more than what I had hoped for. (At the risk of bragging, our first “full-month” of having Solar panels resulted in an electric bill that was only 81 cents!). I love the fact that there is a website that monitors my panels and shows what they are generating. The website also shows how these savings are positively impacting the environment—which was an additional motivation for my choosing solar. My highest accolades and praise go out to Advanced Electric.

"Terrific"

After exploring three other solar panel companies, I chose Joe Alitiem of Advanced Electric and Solar.
His explanations were most understandable and his price was the most competitive.

Thirty days after signing the contract, the system was up and running. Even more important was Joe’s willingness to explain each step in the process in words I could understand. It was a pleasure working with such a knowledgeable, competent, honest and personable man.

"Great Quality At A Fair Price"

Joe and his team did a great job, and I am very happy with the quote process, installation, and follow-up I experienced. I held off writing a review until it had been running for a bit so that I could comment on whether it was working as expected and how I felt about the system after having used it for some time.

The system has been installed and operational for several months and has had zero problems. When we first met to discuss his price quote, Joe answered all my questions about the cost, the installation schedule, and support. When I came up with a few more questions while evaluating his price quote against others, he quickly responded with knowledgeable answers.

The installation was conducted in a few stages and was on schedule, even getting ahead of schedule several times. Each time they were at my house -- staging, installing, inspection, wrap-up -- Joe kept me apprised of exactly what to expect, checked in and out each time, and always completely cleaned up at the end of the day. The system was turned on, and we've had no issues producing energy at the expected, calculated level since then.

The system is easy to monitor via an app; the app is easy to use, and Joe ensured it was set up correctly on day one.

Their quote was slightly higher (about 2%), but I went with them because I had a sense of the better overall quality of experience and value. My thoughts since then have not changed. I would recommend this company without any hesitation.

"Exceeded Expectations for Professionalism"

When we first started investigating solar power, we knew nothing except that “going solar” was probably a good idea and that we should try to learn more. We learned a lot more from Joe Alitiem of Advanced Electric and Solar.

He led us through all the technical details as well as the financial implications of installing a solar array, including the many tax benefits, all later confirmed by our accountant. He was very “hands-on” throughout the installation process and stayed with us until well after our system was up and running.

"Excellent quality product and stellar service."

Three years ago we had a new solar system installed at our house by Advanced Electric and Solar. Joe gave us a very reasonable bid for a nearly 12 kW system and he was excellent to work with. They are a highly professional company with competent and courteous installers. Our project was a difficult one with an 80-year old clay tile roof but Advanced rose to the challenge and executed the installation perfectly.

Advanced also uses the highest-quality materials and products especially suited for our hot and high-UV environment, so make sure when you get bids that other installers offer the best quality and toughest materials to be able to compare with Advanced.

The system's been operating flawlessly for the past three years and in fact we haven't had an electric bill for over a year and a half! Right now we have a $353 credit with TEP and we couldn't be happier. Not sure if new customers can get in with the same sort of arrangement we have with the utility but hopefully it would be nearly as good.

"My Solar System"

First of all, I am very satisfied with the system. The pre- installation and installation went beautifully. I now have the system operational for 3+ months and the Enphase app with daily monitoring has been very helpful and, in fact, it has been entertaining monitoring the daily performance of the panels. I have not had an electric bill in three months and now have a $35 credit on my TEP account. The performance in KWH per day has continued to improve and the bottom line is that I am very satisfied with the system you installed.

Joe was a pleasure to work with. He came to my home and provided a honest, competitive quote and did a great job explaining what solar has to offer. He wasn't pushy and did not try to get me to commit to anything; just provided the facts. He does all of the installation work himself and runs a great crew. He's been very responsive to all questions and takes care of everything for the job. You won't be disappointed with Joe. "I wish other small businesses ran like this!"

Joe was recommended to me by my next-door-neighbor who had him install their solar system. I contacted Joe via email and within an hour he had contacted me and within a few days came to my house and explained about the materials, installation, warranties, etc. When I decided to proceed (a no-brainer at that point) he sent me a detailed plan and proposal within a week then guided me through signing all the papers in person. His explanations were clear and he was very patient in answering all my questions.

Joe is completely reliable and easy to contact, gets back to you right away, and makes sure everything is done quickly, thoroughly, and efficiently.

The installation was flawless, looks fantastic, and he took great care on the aesthetics since the panels are on the front center of my roof. (They are obvious.) Once TEP installed the meter 5 days later, I threw the switch and was up and running. It was seamless and easy.

I'm so glad I did this and would HIGHLY recommend Joe Alitiem. If every business had a guy like Joe and ran this flawlessly, the world would be a far better place.

Joe Alitiem was highly referred to us by a relative and he did not disappoint. From start to finish Joe and his crew were excellent. "Excellent Job"

Mr. Alitiem from Advanced Electric and Solar did a thorough job of explaining the photovoltaic system to be installed. We live in a homeowner association regulated community. Joe was quick to discuss with the HOA Board, any concerns they had about the physical appearance of the system’s placement on our roof. He and his crew were quick and clean with the installation and Joe has been accessible when we’ve had a questions.

"Painless Solar Installation"

From the initial contact I had with Joe Alitiem (owner) to the final turn on of the system I had complete faith in the product and the company.

No outrageous promises or unrealistic expectations were presented. The facts of what I could expect and when were laid out in a professional and lucid manner. When a portion of the project could not be completed in the anticipated time frame Joe kept me informed as to why and when we could expect it to be done.

The bureaucratic nightmare of dealing with the local Electricity provider (TEP) never materialized as Joe was in constant communication with them paving the way for an exceptionally smooth transition.

I was most impressed with the quality of the work and felt a quantity of comfort with this company that is rare indeed.

I have and will continue to recommend Advanced Electric and Solar to all of my friends and colleagues who are interested in going solar.

"Courteous, thorough & professional"

From initial meetings, formal proposal acceptance, detailed logistics planning, and execution of solar installation, the CEO and his staff were timely, prepared and a pleasure to work with. We screened other Tucson-area solar companies, and Advanced quickly assumed first place: clear explanations of process, equipment, and cost. On install day, my roofer was completing a rebuild of the roof. The two owners coordinated their efforts, and the solar crew and roofing crew were able to complete their respective tasks without interfering with each other. Last, Advanced handled all the paperwork and permitting with the local utility company and with Pima County - tasks that I would have found daunting.

"Excellent in Every Way"

Joe Alitiem and Advanced Electric were amazing. He was the first of three suppliers I interviewed and he took the time to tell me about how it all works, what to watch out for, how/when to pay, and he did a thorough review of the house and electrical panel on that first visit.

Unexpected was Joe did 95% of the work himself.

Joe was on site for both the County and TEP inspections. Both inspections passed the first time they were on site.

The most amazing this to me was in this age of long lead times, the system was fully operational within 3 weeks of us giving him the green light. Maybe even a little bit less than that? Neighbors of ours used a competitor, they paid at the wrong time (before operational) and their system will not be operational for a few more months! Joe was great.
